Not a review of a brand-new single this, but I feel it's relevant given the announcement by Gold Motel today of the release date for their second album, Gold Motel (yeah, their SECOND album is self-titled, what's up with that?)
Anyway, Gold Motel's first album, Summer House, was full of the upbeat, poppy tunes that frontwoman Greta Morgan had previously been known for with The Hush Sound. However, whereas in the Hush Sound Greta shared vocal duties with Bob Morris, on that album and indeed on Leave You In Love, Greta's delicate but powerful voice really shines through on its own here.
It's certainly not the most technical song of all time, but here that's not necessary for an excellent pop song. Close your eyes while listening and imagine you're on a beach in the Caribbean, sun beating down and cocktail in hand.
Fits, doesn't it?
