PAWS is a three piece band
from Glasgow, Scotland, and this is their new EP
Misled Youth. They are a DIY band when it comes to recording their material,
and it certainly shows off on this EP. The mix of low-fi garage rock and
pop-rock hooks creates five tracks which captivate the listener instantly.
The vocals are embedded
deep within the fuzzy, chaotic instrumentation, but that also gives off the
impression that the sound is fleshed out more than it actually is. The ideas
thrown around in these tracks are great too, and the variety amongst them
allows for the EP to go from long, drawn out sounds (Bainz) to fast, rocking
tunes such as The Hospital Song.
PAWS only spent a week
recording and finishing this EP, and they’ve managed to come out with five
sterling tracks that manage to sound both hard rocking and catchy at the same
time. The EP is limited to just 250 hand-numbered cassette copies, but you can
listen to a free stream of Misled Youth HERE.
