Summer Camp - Always EP

Released: 10th July 2012
Label: Moshi Moshi Records
TL;DR: So much love for this EP.

Over the last few years we’ve had to deal with some pretty shoddy attempts at recapturing the freedom and the love of synth that was present in the 80s, but finally, it seems British duo (ENGLAND REPRESENT!) Summer Camp has managed to produce an absolutely great throwback to the 80s.

Jeremy Warmsle and Elizabeth Sankey have created the best 80s sounding instrumentations, with perfect production and extremely catchy elements. The mix of happy, accessible sounds forced with underlying dark topics within the lyrics come together to produce something that truly is wonderful to hear.

Warmsle has used a mixture of classic 80s dance beats with very modern sounding bass and electronic instruments, to produce songs that are sonically very interesting, as well as being accessible enough for everybody to enjoy. Sankey’s vocals sound really retro, and fit in extremely well with the music, it makes for brilliant listening.

Always is definitely going to be played many times throughout the remaining months of 2012, it’s just a much needed ray of sunshine that will succeed in cheering the listener up.
